Adult Matric Program

Intuthuko College offers an Amended Senior Certificate Program that provides adults who did not complete their high school education or were unsuccessful in their matric examination with an opportunity to obtain their school leaving certificate. This certification opens doors for further educational pursuits should they choose to do so.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who qualify for this program include:

  1. Adult learners aged 21 and older who have one of the following qualifications:

    • General Education and Training Certificate for Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET)
    • A grade 9 school report indicating a pass in grade 9
    • A recognized equivalent qualification at NQF Level 1, requiring proficiency in two official languages
    • An incomplete Senior Certificate qualification in the year of the Senior Certificate examination
    • An incomplete National Senior Certificate with an expired School-Based Assessment component
  2. Out-of-school youth aged 18-21 who could not complete their school education due to special circumstances verified by the Head of Department.

Promotion Requirements:

Intuthuko College adheres to the curriculum and assessment policies outlined by the Department of Education’s Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS).

Candidates pursuing the Amended Senior Certificate are exempt from the School-Based Assessment (SBA) or Continuous Assessment (CASS) mark. This means that the final examination in the registered subject(s) will account for 100% of the final mark.

    • Attain a minimum of 30% in two subjects, with one being an official home language or first additional language
    • Secure a sub-minimum of 20% in the sixth subject if it was previously failed

We offer comprehensive tuition during the week and on Saturdays, delivered by experienced tutors who are also NSC and SC exam markers.
